Insadong, Dongdaemun & Yongsan – November 17

November 16th was Mike's bday, and Nov 17 was Lee's. Everyone went out to celebrate on Fri, except me. I was sooo tired, I just curled up with my well-worn "Shut Up and Sing" dvd, and went to bed early.

On Saturday I met up with Ericka Wicks from Truro! We wandered around a touristy shopping area called Insadong, and then walked over to Changdeok Palace, which was Korea's centre of power from 1618 to 1896. Unfortunately when we arrived it began to rain, so we only got as far as the guards at the front gate.

Ericka was meeting a friend in order to go to a concert, so I headed off to Dongdaemun Flea market to pick up some small Christmas gifts for my family. On the way home from the market I stopped off at Yongsan Digital Complex, which literally has about 92 of every possible electronic device you could ever imagine. Across from the Subway station is an 8 storey Electronics Dept, and across the street are countless more independent electronics shops. Kinda ridiculous. But it sure was easy to find what I was looking for!

Bibimbap after my long day. The big bowl is the bibimbap (rice, egg, lettuce, bean sprouts, spicy sauce and seaweed) and the other bowls are all little side dishes. Left to right we have radish kimchi, pickled radish, little fishies, cabbage kimchi and miso soup. It's a lot of food for one person! My subway station, Suwon Station, all decked out for Christmas
